Frequently Asked Questions

Process Serving, Explained Clearly

Straightforward answers to the questions we are asked most. If you need anything else, get in touch and we will be glad to help.

What is process serving?

Process serving is the delivery of legal documents to a named person or organisation, carried out in person where possible, with the details recorded so service can be confirmed. Marshall Process Service handles this across the UK.

What documents can you serve?

We serve a wide range of documents, including court summons, statutory demands, non-molestation orders, divorce petitions, possession notices, witness summons and injunctions. If your document is not listed, contact us and we will confirm whether we can assist.

Do you offer same-day or urgent process serving?

Yes. We offer standard, priority and same-day options. For urgent matters we prioritise your instruction and attend the same day where feasible, then confirm a realistic timescale based on the location.

Where do you provide process serving?

We provide process serving support across the United Kingdom. For urgent, complex, rural or larger-area instructions, please get in touch and we will confirm availability and timescales.

What proof of service do you provide?

On completion we provide documentation confirming how, when and where service was attempted or completed. If your matter requires a particular format, let us know and we will accommodate it where possible.

How much does process serving cost?

Costs depend on the service level, location and urgency of the instruction. Contact us with the details and we will provide clear information before you proceed.

What information do you need to get started?

Typically the documents to be served, the recipient's name and address, your preferred service level, and any deadline or court date. You can share these through our request form, by email or over the phone.

What if the person is avoiding service or hard to find?

We make professional, persistent attempts and log each one. Where someone is difficult to locate, we can discuss tracing and locating options with you before proceeding.

Is my information handled securely?

Yes. We handle documents and information carefully and confidentially throughout the process.

Are you a law firm?

No. Marshall Process Service is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We provide process serving and related support services. Clients should seek independent legal advice where required.
